I recently had the pleasure of photographing Allison and Brian in Methuen, MA for their engagement session. We found a unique location which incorporated some architectural lines into the photos. Greycourt State Park features what remains of the Tenney Castle after most of it was destroyed in a fire in the 1970s.

We started with a quick tour of the grounds. We ventured down the large staircase as well as into the woods surrounding the courtyard, capturing some photos along the way.

We decided that the architectural elements served as a better backdrop than the trails, so we spent more time at the former castle’s staircase and courtyard for photos.

A bit of rain came unexpectedly, and Allison and Brian used that as an opportunity for a wardrobe change.

The clouds cleared for a short time, and I used the opportunity to set up some off-camera lighting to properly expose the couple against the blue sky.

We finished off our session with more photos within the castle walls, showing off the architectural lines and archways while working through a few new poses and closeup shots.

I had a great time with Allison and Brian, and I look forward to their wedding day!
